Answer

I am advised that the Ministry of Health has not completed any formal Algorithm Impact Assessments since 27 November 2023. The Ministry continues to assess new technologies through existing privacy, security, legal, and risk management processes as appropriate. I am further advised by Health New Zealand that in the more specific area of Artificial Intelligence, Health New Zealand’s National Artificial Intelligence and Algorithm Expert Advisory Group (NAIAEAG) guides and endorses AI projects and research involving Health New Zealand . NAIAEAG has co-developed (with the Health Research Council of New Zealand) the Aotearoa NZ AI Pre-Implementation Evaluation Framework, which is designed for use by health services in decision-making regarding the implementation of AI in healthcare.
