Answered by

Hon Louise Upston

Member for Taupō · National Party · Minister for Tourism and Hospitality

Answer

As Minister of Tourism & Hospitality, I have no responsibility for any government departments or Ministries. In respect of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, I refer the Member to the Minister for Economic Growth’s answer to written parliamentary question 34167 (2026). With regard to Crown entities under the Tourism & Hospitality portfolio, I am advised that under Tourism New Zealand's (TNZ) Procurement Policy any AI tool purchase would follow the standard TNZ procurement process. TNZ must use processes proportionate to the value, risk and complexity, consider AOG or existing TNZ contracts first, obtain required approvals, document decisions and conflicts, and use quotes, closed tender, or open tender depending on the procurement value and threshold.
