Answer

For information regarding Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport I refer the Member to the Minster Responsible for RMA Reform’s reply to written question 34004 (2026). Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that the artificial intelligence-enabled tools currently used within Kāinga Ora were acquired through existing contractual arrangements or developed internally. In most cases, AI functionality was incorporated into existing software contracts as part of contract renewals. In other cases, it was included within wider procurement processes associated with cloud-based technology services or developed through Kāinga Ora resources on existing platforms. Kāinga Ora has not conducted a standalone procurement or tender process specifically for the purchase of artificial intelligence tools.
