Answer

Following being verbally informed of an alleged incident on 21 July 2026, on the same day my office asked for a formal briefing from Oranga Tamariki. This briefing was received on 23 July 2026 and provided the assurances necessary that the matter was being appropriately managed by Oranga Tamariki. I conveyed my expectations to officials that they were to continue to keep me informed of developments as necessary and appropriate.
