What procurement process, if any, was used for purchasing artificial intelligence tools, if any, currently being used within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

I am advised that Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools used by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) are obtained through existing Ministry procurement and licensing arrangements. I am advised that the Education Review Office (ERO) follows the guidance provided by the New Zealand Government Procurement Group and uses the All of Government Agreements and sources providers through the New Zealand Government Marketplace, where practicable. ERO has a number of existing umbrella contracts that are used to procure AI tools. I am advised that no AI tools have been purchased by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and Education New Zealand that have required a specific procurement process.
