Question

  • What response, if any, has the Government made about the recent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank and if so has that included any direct communication with the Government of Israel?

Answered by

Rt Hon Winston Peters

List MP · NZ First · Minister of Foreign Affairs

Answer

New Zealand has been clear and consistent about grave concerns regarding Israel's actions in the West Bank, including throughout 2026. We will continue to put these concerns to Israel publicly, directly, and in multilateral fora such as the United Nations. New Zealand has placed travel bans on several Israeli cabinet ministers as well as prominent figures in the settler movement whose violent actions and rhetoric threaten the stability of the region. This includes a new tranche of travel bans in June 2026.
