Has any Minister requested a specific make, model or optional feature for their self-drive vehicle since 27 November 2023, and if so, what was requested and was the request granted?

Answer
Under the Ministers Travel Services within New Zealand Determination 2023, Ministers are entitled to one self-drive vehicle. Vehicles must meet the criteria specified in the Ministerial Self-Drive Vehicle Policy. Ministers can request the make and model of their self-drive vehicle from an approved catalogue of vehicles that meet the standards of the Policy, including maximum price, emissions, and safety features. Ministers can request an exemption from the Policy. Any request for exemption and the approval of a vehicle outside of the Policy requires approval from the Minister Responsible for Ministerial Services. Eight exemption requests have been received and five were approved. The approved self-drive vehicles are PHEVs.
