Answered by

Hon Mark Mitchell

Answer

I am advised that since the enactment of the Arms Act 1983 and the commencement of the Recorded Crime Offender Statistics (RCOS) in July 2009, there have been 25,410 proceedings against offenders for the offence of "Unlawfully Carry/Possess Firearm/Restricted Weapon/Explosives" that resulted in prosecution. Section 45 of the Arms Act has been amended three times since the legislation’s introduction.
