Answer

Since 1 January 2024, NZTA has paused or stopped consenting or designation work on the following Roads of National Significance: • Northland Corridor – Te Hana to Whangārei (excluding the Alternative to the Brynderwyn Hills) – designation and consenting work has been deferred and NZTA will not lodge a Notice of Requirement to designate land or other statutory approval applications for these sections at this time. • Petone to Grenada – a referral application to enable the Project to be considered under the Fast-track Approvals Act was lodged in March 2026. Notice of Requirement and consents documentation will be completed, but the project will pause prior to lodgement. No substantive Fast-track Approvals Act application has been lodged. • East West Link – planning work on a new route protection Notice of Requirement to designate land has been paused. No referral or substantive application has been lodged under the Fast-track Approvals Act. For completeness, the Alternative to the Brynderwyn Hills section of the Northland Corridor continues to progress through the Fast-track Approvals Act process, with Notices of Requirement and consent applications already lodged and currently in the Fast-track process
