Answer

Since 1 January 2024, NZTA has refined the preferred routes for a number of projects as investment cases and pre-implementation work have been completed. This includes the East West Link, Petone to Grenada, and SH1 Wellington Improvements projects. These refinements have resulted in changes to previously identified corridors and alignments as project development has progressed. Alterations to existing designations have already been made or are still needed for Mill Road Stage 1, Hamilton Southern Links, Takitimu Northern Link Stage 2 (confirmed), SH29 Tauriko West, Hawkes Bay Expressway (confirmed for current scope of work), SH6 Hope Bypass, and Belfast to Pegasus (confirmed). NZTA is currently in the process of withdrawing its Notice of Requirement for a designation of land for the East West Link Project, which was lodged with the Environmental Protection Authority in 2016.
