How much, if any, did the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, budget for the carbon neutral government programme in the 2025 calendar year?

Answer
Department of Internal Affairs: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that budgeting is done by financial year and that $270,000 was budgeted for the Carbon Neutral Government Programme for the 2024/25 financial year. Film Classification Office (the Office): The Office is not covered by the programme. However, the costs of these activities are marginal and are not budgeted separately as they are embedded within its business-as-usual activities. Lotto NZ: As an autonomous crown entity, Lotto NZ is not required to report under the carbon neutral government programme and so we haven't incurred any costs for the programme specifically. We are voluntarily certified as Toitū net carbonzero. Details of our approach are published in our Integrated Report. As a lottery, our organisation does not produce significant emissions compared to more energy-intensive sectors. Fire and Emergency New Zealand: I refer the member to the response to WPQ 3325 (2026).
