Answer
I am advised that Health New Zealand does not provide a walk-in service at Dargaville Hospital after 8.30pm. I am further advised that Health NZ will continue to provide immediate care for seriously unwell patients who arrive at Dargaville Hospital after 8.30pm; this includes caring for patients while they wait for transport to Whangarei Hospital by ambulance or helicopter. I am also advised that in February 2025 Health NZ and primary care providers communicated the changes to medical staffing to the local community to reduce out-of-hours presentations.
