Answer

I am informed that the New Zealand Cancer Registry provides a retrospective view of all registered ovarian cancer cases, including information about the tumour grade and extent (staging) of all cases. I am further advised that waiting times and activity volumes are monitored as a part of district-based service management. In addition, the Faster Cancer Treatment data collection provides visibility of the number of patients seen within Health Target timeframes. I am also advised that a more granular nationwide monitoring of cancer care processes by Health New Zealand and the Cancer Control Agency will be supported by the ongoing increase of data sets brought into the Health Data Platform. This will provide a greater ability to monitor cancer service performance within Health NZ. Work is also underway on a cancer services metric suite.
