Answer
The Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART) underwent a rigorous quality and assurance process before it became available for New Zealand schools on 23 March 2026. Additionally, the Ministry of Education undertook a trial run of SMART in 2025, and completed a Readiness Assessment in March 2026 ahead of the national release. Due to the substantial number of quality and assurance checks and assessments, a breakdown of information requested by the Member cannot be provided within the timeframe available to respond to written parliamentary questions. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 32191, 32192 and 32193 (2026).
