Question

  • What aggregated national results, if any, from the 2026 phonics checks have been produced to date, broken down by term and check point?

Answered by

Hon Erica Stanford

Member for East Coast Bays · National Party · Minister of Education

Answer

I am advised by the Ministry of Education that both aggregated national results for Term 1, 2026 and disaggregated analysis by ethnicity and Equity Index (EQI) group for Term 1, 2026 Phonics Checks were produced. These were broken down by 20-week and 40-week checkpoints. I am advised that the Ministry of Education is still considering how the phonics checks results will be published on an ongoing basis.
