Question

  • What evidence did Hon Chris Bishop present to the Cabinet Office to show that he would not be able to consider the full picture of transport projects if he could not consider the Melling Interchange and what due diligence, if any, did the Cabinet Office undertake before accepting this view and amending the Minister’s interest register?

Answered by

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon

Member for Botany · National Party · Prime Minister

Answer

In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The Hon Chris Bishop did not need to provide the Cabinet Office with evidence that he would not be able to consider the full picture of transport projects if he could not consider the Melling Interchange. It is appropriate for the Cabinet Office to take Ministers at their word.
