Answer

I apologise for the delay in responding to this question. Since 27 January 2025, a large number of decisions I have been involved in impact the Hutt South electorate either directly or indirectly. The Government and NZTA are making significant investments in the transport system in and around Wellington, most of which impact Lower Hutt commuters in some way. For example, the following projects are being progressed by this government that impact Hutt South: • Petone to Grenada RoNS • Wellington SH1 improvements • SH2 Melling Transport Improvements • Te Ara Tupua • Eastern Hutt Road Resilience Improvements • Eastern Bays Shared Path, Tupua Horo Nuku • Melling Intersections, Queens Drive/High Street • Variable Speed Limits around Schools • Hutt City Council February 2026 Weather Event Emergency Works • Budget 2025/26 metro rail overdue renewals, including a variation to the RNIP in relation to the Ava Bridge replacement. Cabinet Office advice is not required on every decision a Minister takes. A range of factors are considered before a Minister seeks Cabinet Office advice on a decision – including the directness of the decision itself. I can confirm Cabinet Office advised on some of the decisions above, but not all.
