  • What assessments, if any, has been undertaken of the cumulative impact of the Conservation Amendment Bill together with the Fast‑track Approvals Act on public conservation land?

Answer

Department of Conservation officials have assessed the potential interactions of the purpose-related changes in the Conservation Amendment Bill with the Fast-track Approvals Act. They have not quantified the impact but have acknowledged that, where the Fast-track Approvals Act requires the purpose of the Conservation Act to be considered when granting approvals, the purpose-related changes may have a minor impact on approvals for conservation land sought under that Act.
