Answer

Tenancy Services has not removed the ability of tenants to initiate bond refunds, therefore no submissions or representations were received. Landlords are now required to initiate bond transactions digitally, using either BondHub, our web-based offering, or Property Management Software connected to MBIE’s bond system, unless an exception exists. However, tenants now have a choice, they can transact digitally in response to bond transactions initiated by their landlord, or they can transact via post for these transactions and extra time is allowed in this circumstance. Tenants can call Tenancy Services to request a manual bond refund form, which can be provided by email or by post. Alternatively, Tenancy Advocacy groups, such as Citizens Advice Bureau, have access to manual bond refund forms when tenants seek their assistance.
