Answer

I was not responsible for any Crown entities in the 2022/23 financial year. The Tertiary Education Commission’s Annual Report for the year to 30 June 2023 reported total remuneration (fees) for its Board of Commissioners of $190,183 (page 154). In accordance with clause 17 of Schedule 11 of the Education and Training Act 2020, I set the maximum fees payable to the governing councils of tertiary education institutions (TEIs). The actual fee levels are then determined by the individual councils up to this maximum level. I set the actual fees paid to the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology Council and the former Workforce Development Councils. The fees paid in the 2022-23 financial year were paid from within each organisation’s baseline, and the total remuneration for the 2022-23 financial year is published in each organisation’s annual report.
