Has the Minister considered the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment’s report Alt-F Reset, specifically regarding his advice to ban clear-fell harvest in high risk areas, and ensure that forestry companies cover the costs of environmental damage they cause; if so, what is the Minister’s response to these two specific recommendations?

Answer
To improve practice and better manage risks with harvest practices, the Government is updating the rules forestry companies must follow set out in the National Environmental Standards for Commercial Forestry (NES-CF). One of the proposed changes focuses on improving the management of slash, particularly for land where slash mobilisation is a risk.
