Answer
In February, March, April and May 2026, there was a combined total of 23 ram raids. This compares very favourably to previous years, in particular 2022, where the same months had a combined total of 241. I refer the Member to the attached table which shows the breakdown of ‘ram raid’ related incidents recorded between February and May 2026. Data for June 2026 will not be available until the last working day of July 2026. As the Member knows, ‘ram raids’ are not defined as an offence in legislation and therefore cannot be searched on Police systems using an offence code. Police interprets ‘ram raids’ as incidents in which a vehicle is used to enter a premise with the intent of committing a burglary. Police relies on searching the ‘free text’ fields of incident reports for the term ‘ram raid’ to identify if a ram raid related offence has taken place.
