Question

  • Is the Minister aware of any health and safety evaluations that have been done of the proposed LNG terminal inside Port Taranaki?

Answered by

Hon Simeon Brown

Member for Pakuranga · National Party · Minister for Energy

Answer

I have been advised there have been some indicative evaluations carried out by proponents, however, detailed health and safety evaluations will be carried out as part of the Safety Case that the operator is required to prepare under the Health and Safety at Work Act regulations. The operator must not operate the facility unless its Safety Case has been accepted by WorkSafe.
