Further to reply 24306 (2026), has the total cost of, or Crown funding for, the Northwestern Busway changed as a result of the contract split?

Answer
I am advised the contract split is not considered to have increased the total cost of the IRG funded components of the Northwestern Busway. Rather, significant increases in land acquisition and project cost escalation pressures increased total costs. Original Agreement with AT: Costs $100m, including $50m Crown Funding (NB: total costs at completion were less due to change in co-funding and scope of works). New Agreement with NZTA: Costs $65m, including $55m Crown funding. Crown funding across the two agreements has totalled $105m.
