Answer

The original scope of the new Whanganui Hub included a new Police Hub Building and a Custodial Care Facility. The revised scope for the IRG-funded portion includes only the Custodial Facility and has a revised completion date of June 2027. New funding for the Whanganui Police Hub Building was announced in Budget 2026 and this portion of the project will be delivered outside of the IRG “Shovel Ready” programme. It is due for opening in early 2029 and the final budget is currently being worked on.
