Costs for collecting surplus meals are generally included in each supplier’s per-meal rate. The exception is one supplier, where an additional Friday pickup has been included at the request of schools and is invoiced monthly. I am advised by the Ministry of Education that it paid $117,946.72 (excl. GST), during the week of 8 June 2026, to a supplier for additional waste collection services from the previous month.
