Answer

As Prime Minister, I regularly request and receive advice from officials in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) on a range of matters. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time and resources, and hence the expense, required to answer this question within the timeframe allowed for written parliamentary questions is not in the public interest. I am advised, however, that DPMC publishes a monthly list of titles of advice provided to me, by the middle of the month after the advice is provided: https://www.dpmc.govt.nz/publications. Some of the titles may not be released if, for instance, they relate to matters of national security, the provision of free and frank advice and/or active consideration. Furthermore, staff in my office may informally receive documents, including draft documents, from my officials in DPMC, from other agencies, and from other Ministers’ offices. This information is not held in a format that can be easily extracted within the time frame.
