Answer

I am advised by the Ministry of Education that the contribution to the Teacher Aide hourly rate is a standard rate. For U1 and U2 schools it is $23.78 (including GST) and for U3 schools it is $23.00 (including GST). This is topped up further through the Teacher Aide Pay Equity Claims with an average 2025 payment of an additional $8.06 per hour (including GST) bringing the average rate up to $31.84 (U1&U2) and $31.06 (U3). For the other components of the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) the Ministry does not pay hourly rates. Specialist Teacher FTE are automatically allocated to schools staffing allowance when a child is verified for the ORS. The Ministry and fundholder schools employ a range of specialist staff to provide interventions for children. Salary will vary across this group. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 26751 (2026).
