  • What is the total sum, if any, spent on wages for any contractors and consultants who have been previously employed in a different capacity at any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible, since 27 November 2023, as at 5 June 2026, broken down by month and organisation?

Hon Nicola Grigg

Member for Selwyn · National Party · Minister for the Environment

Answer

Since 27 November 2023, the total sum for contractors that have previously been employed by the Ministry for the Environment is $1,090,725. I refer the Member to the attached document that provides monthly breakdowns over this time period. Consultancy engagements are entered into with the company (not the individual) and therefore the Ministry does not necessarily have full visibility of all individuals (unless specified). For this reason, the Ministry cannot respond in regard to consultants. The Environmental Protection Authority has not employed any contractors and consultants who have been previously employed in a different capacity since 27 November 2023.
