Answer
In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was a departmental agency hosted by DPMC until 25 September 2025. The Cyclone Recovery Chief Executive was a functional Chief Executive appointed under the Public Service Act 2020 in March 2023 and disestablished with effect from 1 July 2025. My response includes NEMA information to 24 September 2025. I am advised that 17 DPMC staff members were made redundant from 27 November 2023 to 5 June 2026. Two of the impacted staff returned to the agency on casual contracts after their redundancies. Due to privacy reasons details of the redundancies are not disclosed.
