Answer

Budget 2024 Te Arawhiti was required to deliver $2.7m per annum in baseline savings. These were achieved through: - $2.393 million reduction in Claimant Funding from 2024/25 onwards - $0.083 million reduction in Māori Crown Relations - Strengthening Crown Capability in 2024/25 and $0.082 million from 2025/26 onwards - $0.266 million reduction in Treaty Negotiations and Marine and Coastal Area Customary Interest in 2024/25 and $0.264 million from 2025/26 onwards. Budget 2025 No baseline savings were required. Budget 2026 Te Tari Whakatau is expected to deliver $0.800 million per annum in baseline savings. The internal budget for 2026/27 is still being finalised, however, the majority of savings are expected to come from the Shared Service Agreement with the Ministry of Justice.
