Answer
Corrected reply: I am advised by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi that, as at 30 April 2026, $323.8 million had been spent on pre-implementation activities for Roads of National Significance (RoNS) projects that had not yet progressed to procurement or construction. The $675 million approved by the NZTA Board in October 2025 related only to a subset of RoNS projects that had not yet progressed to procurement or construction. As at 31 May 2026, approximately $90 million of that funding had been spent on the six projects listed in my press release of 20 October 2025: - Northland Corridor Sections 2 and 3 (Te Hana to Whangārei) - East West Link - Hamilton Southern Links - Petone to Grenada - SH1 Wellington Improvements - Hope Bypass
