How much of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise's appropriation in Budget 2026, if any, is allocated specifically to investment promotion and trade development activity relating to India, and how does that compare with the amount allocated in each of the previous two Budgets?
Answered by
Hon Todd McClay
Member for Rotorua · National Party · Minister for Trade and Investment
Answer
New Zealand will undertake trade and investment promotion activities in both India and New Zealand to highlight investment and broader business opportunities in India for New Zealand businesses. This will build on and expand existing promotional activities, including those run by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s (NZTE) and through our High Commission in India. No funding from NZTE appropriation in Budget 2026 or the previous two Budgets is allocated specifically to investment promotion or trade development activity relating to India. NZTE activities in India are delivered through baseline funding and cross agency funding. I am advised NZTE will allocate $1.615 million to support its activity in India in FY27. This compares to $1.423 million in FY26 and $1.246 million in FY25.
