Did he consider seeking further nominations to the Ministerial Arms Advisory Group (MAAG) after his Associate Minister transferred decision making responsibility to him and if not, why not?

Answer

The Ministry of Justice presented me with two nominees. I was satisfied with the two candidates as they filled the requirements on experience and expertise, as well as the membership balance between the firearm-owning community and the non-firearm-owning community, as determined by sections 90(1) and 90(2) of the Arms Act 1983.
