What actions, if any, does the Minister plan to eradicate invasive browser animals?

Answer
I am committed to the implementation of the Predator Free 2050 Strategy and Action Plan, which includes the goal of eradicating possums from all of New Zealand by 2050. I plan to continue making resources available to achieve the goal. That is why I am investing the International Visitor Levy to support eradication-focused programmes, particularly for wild goats and deer, and continue to support DOC’s and partners’ localised efforts to eradicate invasive browsers where the full eradication of deer, goat or pig populations is feasible. For example deer free Northland and wild goat free Kaimai/Mamaku Range.
