Answer

As Minister of Housing, I note the savings in Vote Housing and Urban Development in Budget 2026, totalled to $758.71 million over the forecast period: a) $331m is attributable to reduced asset maintenance, relating to the Kāinga Ora Expenditure Reductions initiative; b) $37m is attributable to reduced depreciation, relating to the Kāinga Ora Expenditure Reductions initiative; c) no savings are attributable to reduced programme delivery; and d) $23m is attributable to other operating changes, relating to the Tāmaki Regeneration Company Delivery Commitments initiative, reflecting reduced development costs and acquisitions that are no longer required.
