Answer

The Ministry for the Environment is merging with the Ministry for Housing and Urban Development, the Ministry of Transport and the local government functions of the Department of Internal Affairs to create the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport. This merger was agreed prior to Budget 2026, and is not a result of savings made through the Budget.
