Answer

A significant amount of analysis and advice went into the development of the Conservation Amendment Bill over years. Key examples of this, such as Regulatory Impact Statements and Supplementary Analysis Reports, have been proactively released by the Department of Conservation and more will be released on the DOC website over the coming weeks. Please see the following documents in particular as environmental analysis is contained throughout this material.: - The list of documents released on 3 March 2026 under the heading ‘Conservation Acts (Land Management and other matters) Amendment Bill advice’: https://www.doc.govt.nz/news/oia-responses/2026/ - Information including advice relating to the public consultation document ‘Modernising conservation land management’ that informed proposals in the Conservation Amendment Bill: https://www.doc.govt.nz/get-involved/have-your-say/all-consultations/2024-consultations/help-us-modernise-conservation-land-management/
