Answer

I am advised that Corrections acknowledges the importance of delivering programmes to people in prison and it is a top priority for Corrections to ensure that everyone eligible for a rehabilitation programme has the opportunity to attend and complete these programmes. I am further advised that a person’s eligibility to participate in any particular programme can depend on a number of factors, including their security classification, identified risks and willingness to engage. Some people may also be on a waitlist if it is not the appropriate time in their sentence to complete a programme. I refer the member to the attached table which provides the number of people waitlisted to attend a rehabilitation programme as at 31 December 2025, broken down by prison and rehabilitation service type.
