Question

  • Can the Minister confirm whether any kaupapa Māori education leaders, kura tūmuaki, or Kōhanga Reo trustees were involved in the changes to the education curriculum, if so, on what dates?

Answered by

Hon Erica Stanford

Member for East Coast Bays · National Party · Minister of Education

Answer

The Ministry of Education is working closely with the Kaupapa Māori Curriculum and Assessment Strategic Advisory Group, Māori Education Ministerial Advisory Group, Sector Insight Groups and internal review groups, in considering consultation feedback and testing refinements as they finalise the curriculum. These groups have kaupapa Māori education leaders and kura tumuaki as members. Kōhanga Reo trustees have not explicitly been involved in this process.
