Answer

I am advised that the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) has a range of safeguards in place for staff use of AI tools. These include an AI policy with responsibilities for all staff and mandatory training on responsible use of generative AI systems (focused on Microsoft Copilot), requiring that staff verify any outputs from generative AI systems before use. Individual AI tools have other safeguards which will include specifying the level of human oversight required based on how that tool is used. This is also my response for WPQ 20096 (2026)
