Question

  • Did he direct, request, or otherwise initiate the TAB NZ advisory committee report on the racing industry's sustainability; and if not, why does the committee's covering letter state the report was requested by him?

Answered by

Rt Hon Winston Peters

Answer

We did not direct, request, or otherwise initiate the TAB NZ advisory committee report. The report was on an initiative of TAB NZ. While a leaked covering letter from the committee chair indicated the report was requested by me, this was incorrect. A spokesperson for our office has confirmed we did not commission the report, and we understand the chair has since acknowledged that this reference in the letter was made in error.
