What assessment, if any, has been made of the road safety implications of allowing heavier vehicles on New Zealand roads under the proposed Vehicle Dimensions and Mass weight limit changes, and what safety thresholds has the Government determined are not acceptable to compromise?

Answer

The Government is considering a range of options and final decisions have not yet been made. Safety assessments are a critical factor for consideration before any changes to Rules would be finalised.
