  • What process, if any, exists within his portfolio to ensure that regulatory changes made on an urgent or expedited basis, such as the proposed heavy vehicle rule changes, are subject to adequate post-implementation review to assess whether they are achieving their intended outcomes without unintended harm?

Hon David Seymour

Member for Epsom · ACT Party · Minister for Regulation

Answer

From 1 July, any regulatory change will be subject to the requirements of the Regulatory Standards Act, which will give New Zealanders transparency on the costs and benefits of regulation. The Act requires agencies to develop plans for regularly reviewing legislation they are responsible for administering.
