Question

  • What improvements was she referring to when she stated, "we are progressing these improvements," with regards to waterways in Canterbury and when does she expect to present them?

Answered by

Hon Nicola Grigg

Member for Selwyn · National Party · Minister for the Environment

Answer

My statement referred to proposed changes to freshwater national direction. The Government has recently consulted on a range of options to reform how freshwater is managed and protected. For example, this included proposals to introduce requirements for councils to map drinking water sources. I expect these changes to be progressed as part of the new planning system, once legislation replacing the Resource Management Act 1991 is in place.
