Answer

The Government has approved $82.85 million to support the establishment of the New Zealand Graduate School of Medicine, with the University of Waikato responsible for funding the remainder (approximately $152 million). The University of Waikato intends to raise a portion of its contribution through philanthropic sources. The level of philanthropic targeted and achieved is a commercial matter for the University and was not approved by Government. I suggest the member refers any further queries relating to philanthropic funding directly to the University of Waikato.
