Answer

I am advised that local authority and Civil Defence Emergency Management personnel have access to a wide range of operational, leadership, technical, and hazard specific training opportunities. Examples include: • National Emergency Management Agency’s national framework of emergency management training • Response & Recovery Aotearoa New Zealand’s professional development and leadership programmes • Earth Science New Zealand offer short courses, and hazard and planning guidance (especially for land‑use and risk assessment eg Landslide Planning Guidance: Reducing Landslide Risk through Land Use Planning (2024 update). • New Zealand Geotechnical Society and international workshops providing technical and geotechnical training on landslide science and response. • Tertiary education providers also offer a range of training opportunities.
