Was any consultation undertaken by MBIE when the importer fuel margin methodology was last amended, if so, with who?

I am advised that MBIE made the decision to temporarily pause the publication of estimates of importer costs and importer margins to allow for a detailed assessment of the series and its performance as a result of the conflict. This decision was informed by internal consultation with MBIE Fuel Response teams.   In general, MBIE has not changed the fuel margin series methodology since the last change in 2025. MBIE consulted with Fuel companies and the Commerce commission as a matter of standard practice for methodology changes.
