Answer

It is a priority for the Government to make sure there is robust and timely oversight of Police. In response to the IPCA report ‘Review of Police handling of complaints against Jevon McSkimming’, Cabinet announced an intention to strengthen the oversight and assurance mechanisms for Police by establishing an Inspector General of Police. The particulars of the establishment of the Inspector General of Police, and future arrangements are under active consideration.
