Answer

I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) that Civil Defence Payments were activated on 29 January 2026 for specific areas identified by their regions, communities and iwi to support those who are impacted from the recent North Island Severe Weather Event. MSD has also been providing support alongside partner agencies, including through contact centres and service centres, as well as by attending community hubs to assist those impacted.
